Popcorn and snacks

Felt really, really bored today. Grandma is hogging the big TV and there isn't much to do on the net so I felt this sudden urge to go out and spend money. So I did and I brought Noelle (my sis) along with me.

So initially we wanted to go grab some Ben and Jerry's, first stop being Fairprice at Kovan. Found a tub but didn't get it because the flavours were limited, so we noted the price of the B&J's and went to the Cold Storage nearby to try our luck.

When we reached we found out that Cold Storage had done some renovation work so we checked out the frozen food stuff and suddenly I had this crazy urge to buy microwaveable food. Like TV dinners and stuff so I went hunting and eventually we came to this brand of microwaveable popcorn called Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popping Corn!!! Something about this popcorn drew me in to buy it...

Still can't get it?

OMG CHOLESTEROL!!!!!!

Caracal - Phoenix

Thanks Hakeem, that guy is really into the scene, like he would really buy all the band EPs and stuff if he thinks they are worth it.

So let's see what we got here.

What - Caracal's (http://www.myspace.com/caracalmail) Phoenix EP

Where did I get it? - Borrowed it from Hakeem

Likes - I have always been a fan of Caracal's ever since I came across their Myspace. What caught me then was this raw yet powerul kind of feel in their music and I must say that this EP does showcase that rawness. I'm sure if you have heard of Caracal you would know of "The Best Defense is Nonsense", I mean it's hard to ignore an intro like that even if you do not know the band. Other memorable songs include "Phoenix" and "Last Night at 12, I Felt Immense" which both have interesting arrangements and not forgetting my favourite song, "Prayer for Families" as well. I just love the way they build up and then let it all out toward the end. "Of The Upper Class" is a little forgettable because it gets a little repetitive, but I'm thinking that they put it in to show their progress as a band over time.

What I would like to have seen - I was hoping that they would actually put in "The Prized Fight" because that's my favourite song from them. Since Chris left the band Caracal went in a much different direction, so I guess this song is just another one of those songs that people would never get to remember. I really hope that do bring back "The Prized Fight" for a full length album.

So that's it, got a couple more stuff from Hakeem and some crap from deep in my cupboard which I will be talking about pretty soon so take care till then.

The Beginning

Hey all, this is something I'm setting up to just talk about my personal interests, mainly music. It's not really a music review blog or a critic thing or anything like that, it's just out of my own personal interest that I am doing this. So my name is Shaun, I'm 18 and I'm currently a student at SP. Just to show you guys I'm not some scene kid poseur wannabe yahoo just ranting about bands just to get some recognition, I'll let you take a look at my own band and just like what I think I would be doing here, I would like some comments if possible because well, knowing other people know of our music and receiving feedback from them is what I really appreciate as a musician here.

So here goes.

VESSEL

I play bass for a band called Vessel. We are still very young so not many people know us as of yet. We draw our influences from a lot of bands, this is mainly due to our very varied music tastes. If you would want to take a listen, check us out on www.myspace.com/vesselsg.

So there you have it, hope you keep reading this space for any updates and stuff.
